GRAND FORKS — The Pi Beta Phi Grand Council will vote to revoke the the University of North Dakota sorority’s charter, the national organization has announced.
Alumnae of the UND Pi Beta Phi sorority, also known as the North Dakota Alpha Chapter, were notified of the decision in an email from the national organization late in October. The decision to revoke the charter came at the request of the UND chapter following a visit from national representatives and a thoughtful dialogue, according to that email.
Jenn Plagman-Galvin, grand president of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women, said there has been concern about the chapter’s declining size and member experience, as well as financial and housing challenges.
