KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For 30 years, the Suffrage Coalition has been working on bringing a women's suffrage museum to Knoxville, and on Thursday, the coalition made the announcement about the future home of the Women's Suffrage Museum.
The museum's location will be on South Gay Street between the Bijou Theatre and the Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville — just one street away from the monument dedicated to the movement in Market Square.
"(We'll have) 9,000 square feet of space to tell the story of the amazing women — especially the amazing Southern women — who won for us the right to vote," Wanda Sobieski, the president and founder of the coalition, said.
