KOUNTZE, Texas — A Hardin County jury on Wednesday convicted a registered sex offender on three counts of child sex crimes and handed down two life sentences and a 20 year sentence.

Chad Alan Potts, 56, of Silsbee, was found guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child in the 356th Judicial District Court. The jury deliberated for 45 minutes before returning guilty verdicts on all three charges shortly before 4 p.m. and took nine minutes to determine punishment.

Potts received two life sentences for the aggravated sexual assault charges and 20 years for indecency with a child, the maximum sentence for that offense. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine.
