It appears winter will arrive in the Kanawha Metro region by early next week.

Both Charleston and Huntington may see snow by Monday morning, but it won't be much to look at.

In the Capital City, it might drop to 27 Sunday night with a 60% chance of snow, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston. There will be a 40% chance of snow Monday before 1 p.m. with a high in the upper 30s and partly sunny skies in the afternoon.

"We're expecting to see some snow in the air," Ray Young, a meteorologist with the NWS. "You'll get a little coating on the grass, but our pavement is warm enough that [the snow] won't accumulate. But it's enough to get people excited because it's the first snow of the season."
