IOWA CITY — Kirk Ferentz’s 21-2 run in his last 23 November games began on Nov. 16, 2019, when Iowa football knocked off unbeaten and No. 7-ranked Minnesota, 23-19, at Kinnick Stadium.
The Hawkeyes were actually 3-point favorites that day, a nod to how feisty a Ferentz-coached team can be viewed at home. That game still marks the last time a ranked opponent came into Kinnick in November. But that will change on Nov. 8.
And this time, the Hawkeyes will be rare home underdogs in the final month of the season. This CBS-televised matchup between No. 20 Iowa and No. 9 Oregon has the visiting Ducks favored by 6½ points.
The last time Iowa was a November home underdog? On Nov. 4, 2017, when the Hawkeyes were 20½-point underdogs and blasted Urban Meyer and No. 3 Ohio State, 55-24.
