HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas deputy has been fired from his job after he was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.
Houston County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Skyler Laza was booked into the Anderson County Jail Wednesday on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge after being taken into custody at his home in Anderson County. Houston County Sheriff Zak Benge said he immediately fired Laza.
His bond has been set at $1 million bond.
Laza was working at the Houston County Sheriff's Office since Sept. 17, 2024.
His arrest comes after Benge was notified on Wednesday that one of his employees was involved in an investigation with the Dallas Police Department and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Benge was later notified of Laza's arrest.
