Police have released a possible cause of death for Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, who was found dead after a chase involving police and a car crash.

A man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a pursuit by authorities, the police department of Frisco, Texas, said in a news release on Nov. 6. The police are investigating the death as a "possible suicide," the release said.

The man was later identified as Kneeland, 24, who had fled from police on foot following a chase, according to the Frisco Police Department.

At 10:39 p.m. on Nov. 5, the Frisco Police Department responded to assist the Texas Department of Public Safety in finding a vehicle that evaded troopers during a pursuit that went into Frisco, police said.
