GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police say they are reviewing an arrest captured in a video that has spread quickly on social media, according to a statement released Wednesday.
The department said the video involves Greensboro Police officers and an incident that happened late Monday night on the 2000 block of Veasley Street.
According to Greensboro Police, officers were patrolling the area around 11 p.m. when they saw a man — later identified as 37-year-old Nathaniel Williams — sitting in the driver’s seat of a car in a parking lot. Police said officers spotted marijuana in Williams’ lap and ordered him to get out of the vehicle.
GPD said Williams refused multiple lawful commands to exit. After several requests, officers removed him from the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs.
