YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Thursday continuing efforts to mitigate the SNAP food assistance pause during the federal government shutdown.

While reiterating the state's plan last week to release millions of dollars in funding for food assistance through the Ohio Works First (OWF) program and to local food banks, DeWine said that the Department of Job and Family Services continues to review guidance from the Department of Agriculture that would provide partial SNAP payments in the coming days.

ODJFS is working to provide recalculated numbers to the Department of Agriculture, which reduces the maximum SNAP benefit by 50%, but would provide some benefits to recipients of the program during the shutdown.
