PORTSMOUTH — After eight years of early morning greetings, traffic duty smiles and costume-clad celebrations, Hathaway Elementary School said goodbye Oct. 31 to its beloved school resource officer, Dave Dyson.
Dyson’s final day was marked by a cheerful send-off from the school’s fourth-grade class, who gathered for an apple cider celebration following the school’s annual “Fun Walk.”
The event was spearheaded by parent Samantha Younger, whose daughter, Addison, is among the fourth-graders who’ve grown up with Dyson’s daily presence.
“He has been there every single day for the last eight years — literally running the show,” Younger said.
Younger arranged for Clements’ Marketplace to make what she called “a healthy donation” of apple cider for the fourth grade, supplementing
