LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Joseph Shirley, a man from Alabama, has been charged for a crash that left a semi-truck turned over and blocking I-94.
Shirley was charged with Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08 or more as a Level 5 Felony, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated as a Misdemeanor, and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person as a Misdemeanor.
On Tuesday, Oct. 23, officers were dispatched around 6 p.m. in response to a car crash on I-94. All lanes were blocked by a semi-trailer truck that had rolled onto its driver side.
The driver, Shirley, stated that he had drunk approximately 10 beers prior to the crash. A portable breath test resulted in a 0.1447 BAC. Shirley further stated that he had been driving for nea
