INDIANAPOLIS — A new poll from Indiana Conservation Voters finds Hoosiers would rather lawmakers focus on rising energy costs and property taxes than redistricting.
The group, which has taken out ads opposing President Donald Trump's redistricting push in Indiana , hired Bellwether Research to poll 800 voters in the state.
The poll found that 50% of voters oppose the special session for redistricting, while just 30% approve. That includes 40% who strongly oppose the redistricting effort.
According to the poll, 87% of voters are concerned about rising energy costs, with 72% saying they want lawmakers to focus on that issue, property taxes or safety instead of redistricting.
By a 51% to 27% margin, the voters polled said they believe Indiana is on the wrong track.
