WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The City of Wichita said Thursday that it will implement safety markings at a crossing near Heights High School.

The improvements include high-visibility crosswalk markings, two crosswalk signs and two advanced crosswalk warnings on Hillside near 45th Street North.

The city said it hopes to have the safety features installed in the coming weeks.

Amy Manning said she was driving down Hillside last week and slowed down for a group of students crossing the road outside of the school when suddenly a student walked out in front of her car.

After almost hitting the student, she stopped at Wichita Heights High School to see if something could be done to improve student safety outside the school.
