WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - As colder temperatures move in with the season’s first hard freeze anticipated on Sunday in south-central Kansas, homeless shelters are preparing to serve more people coming to them in need.
In Wichita, the Union Rescue Mission focuses on providing shelter for homeless men and offering a program for rehabilitation. Ahead of the early taste of winter weather anticipated this weekend in Wichita, 12 News spoke with two men who are part of the mission’s program.
One of the men, Justin, said the worst part of living without a home is the times during the winter when there’s no place to go.
James Sanborn spoke of his experience, having nowhere to go during an ice storm.
“I was out there last for a couple of weeks when it was icing, and it was just terrible,” he said.
