ANDOVER, Kan. (KWCH) - A trail connecting Andover and Augusta is almost complete.

Known as the Redbud Trail, it’s heavily used by bikers and others that enjoy the outdoors. On Friday, the Andover Augusta Rail Trail Initiative celebrated the trail with a ribbon cutting, since they have been working to make the old railway into a trail for years.

“Together, AARTI and the city transformed the abandoned railroad corridor into a safe, scenic six-mile path,” said Ronnie Price, Mayor of Andover.

Plenty of bikers were in attendance to test the new bridge and explore the route. They said that the new trail will help them stay safe on the road, and allow more people access to enjoy the outdoors.
