Dear Care and Feeding,
I keep getting emails from my son’s first-grade teacher saying that he’s had a “rough day” and she’ll call me the next day. These calls are torture. She doesn’t have a single nice thing to say about my son. So far, the incidents have been that he got frustrated and kicked a chair, screamed when he didn’t want to adjust his pencil grip when they were trying to make him, and got upset when a certain toy wasn’t available at playtime. I have no idea how I’m supposed to respond to these teachers’ calls, other than apologizing. He’s 6. He’s neurodivergent. We work with him at home, but no we don’t have a magic solution.
