Saugeen Shores will protect its tree canopy with two new bylaws – the Urban Tree Conservation Bylaw and the Tree Protection on Town-Owned Property Bylaw.

The bylaws, approved by Town Council Oct. 27, protect urban tree cover on public and private lands in Saugeen Shores and include strict regulations and potential fines for unregulated destruction of trees.

A Town news release said together, the by-laws reinforce the municipality’s commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible growth.
