PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — Woodrow Lowe, father-in-law to WREG anchor and reporter Zaneta Lowe and a University of Alabama football legend, died at his home in Collierville on Thursday.
Lowe was 71.
According to Sports Illustrated, Lowe helped lead the Crimson Tide to SEC championships under coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in the early 1970s. He was a three-time All-American selection.
Lowe played 11 seasons in the NFL before becoming a coach.
Woodrow Lowe is the brother of Phenix City, Alabama Mayor Eddie Lowe and was a high school football star at Central-Phenix City High School.
