AUSTIN, Texas — One person has been rescued after officials said they were "struggling in the water" near Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), crews responded to 3800 W. 35th Street for reports of an adult struggling in the water.

The person has been rescued out of the water and is now on Austin police's boat with ATCEMS officials. The person is now en route to a hospital with critical injuries. It is unclear the extent of the person's injuries at this time.

ATCEMS along with the Austin Fire Department (AFD), the Austin Police Department (APD) and Travis County Starflight all provided assistance in the rescue efforts.
