ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - As Christmas approaches, the Salvation Army Abilene Corps is helping local children receive holiday gifts through its Angel Tree Program, which partners with area businesses to support families facing financial hardship.

Children can write their toy requests on tags, which are then placed on the Angel Tree. Community members can choose a tag, purchase the requested gift, and ensure it goes directly to the child who asked for it.

Major Joe Burton of the Salvation Army said seeing the joy the program brings is especially meaningful to him.
