KINGSTON, N.Y. — A shooting victim found by police during an Emerson Street drug bust in October appears to have attempted suicide and remains in serious condition, Kingston police Lt. Patrick Buono said Thursday.

“We are investigating the shooting at Emerson Street as an attempted suicide,” Buono said in an email. The shooting was unrelated “to any previous incident” at that address, Buono said.

City police have not released the victim’s name.

At about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Kingston/Ulster Emergency Services Unit, Kingston police and town of Ulster police executed a search warrant at 125 Emerson St. following a two-month narcotics investigation. When they entered the house, police said they found a male with a gunshot wound inside.
