CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Patrick Morrisey has directed that all United States and West Virginia flags on state-owned facilities be flown at half-staff to honor the life and service of former Vice President Dick Cheney.

“Dick Cheney committed decades of his life to the service of our nation,” Morrisey said. “From the Department of Defense to the Vice Presidency, he was a formidable leader with a deep sense of duty and conviction. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Cheney family during this time of loss.”

The governor’s order takes effect at noon Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, and will remain in place until sunset on the day of Cheney’s interment.
