BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) - Students in Bristol, Virginia, including those at Virginia High School, will have the opportunity to get free tuition at Virginia Highlands Community College (VHCC) through the Bristol, Virginia, Promise Program starting in 2026.

Virginia Highlands President Adam Hutchison said the Bristol, Virginia, Promise Scholarship is for immediate high school graduates.

"If they'll start at Virginia Highlands in the summer or fall right after high school graduation, we promise that the next five semesters, they will pay no tuition or fees," Hutchison said. "That's when they're most likely to succeed because they're already in that learning mode. They don't have some of the other life circumstances that might slow them down."
