SafeWork NSW and police are investigating the overnight death of a man working on the M1 to Raymond Terrace extension project.
Emergency services were called to the construction site on the New England Highway, Tarro, about 11.50pm on Thursday 6 November, following reports a worker had been hit by a material transfer vehicle.
Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District received details the male was standing behind a parked truck when he was allegedly struck.
Sadly, the man, believed to be aged 45, died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to Maitland Hospital for a mandatory testing.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
