AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Republican leaders including former Governor Paul LePage hosted a food drive on Thursday.
It was an annual tradition when LePage held office, but he says he’s bringing it back due to the suspension of SNAP benefits.
Commenting on the government shutdown, he said that he hopes the government is re-opened soon.
LePage also commented on Jared Golden announcing yesterday that he would not be seeking reelection.
LePage said that Golden did a good job as a democrat representing a republican district but the reason he joined the race was because he felt that people were mis-represented.
