SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A retired Sioux City teacher returned to the district today to treat her former co-workers to a catered lunch.

Former North Middle math teacher Norma Loffswold retired in May after 32 years of teaching.

She wanted to give back to her colleagues, and Tuesday was the day.

She was greeted with hugs in the teachers’ lounge during the lunch period and paid for a catered Qdoba lunch out of her own pocket.

She says her way of giving back to the staff.

“These people are not only friends, but family. We love each other, we hugged each other, we had each other’s backs. I just have to give back because I miss my colleagues so bad,” said Loffswold.

The hugs continued throughout the school on Tuesday, with a goal to love and appreciate all 120 teachers at North Middle.
