PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – After months of controversy, an investigation into allegations that the mayor of St. Helens used corrupt techniques to win the 2024 election has stalled due to insufficient evidence.
The Oregon Department of Justice was initially called upon to examine evidence that could be used in an investigation determining whether Mayor Jennifer Massey had colluded with ex-Police Chief Brian Greenway to get rid of 24-hour police coverage in an attempt to aid her mayoral campaign.
However, ODOJ reviewed the materials and found it “unlikely” that an investigation by the Criminal Justice Division would “produce evidence of corrupt or coercive activity on the part of Massey to support a prosecution.”
