PENDLETON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A wildfire burning south of Circleville near the Big Mountain area in Pendleton County in Monongahela National Forest has grown to an estimated 70 to 80 acres, according to officials managing the response.
The blaze, known as the Woodside Fire, was first reported on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, when a private landowner spotted smoke and alerted authorities.
The fire is currently 30% contained and is burning in steep, mountainous terrain covered by oak and hickory forest, making ground access difficult.
The U.S. Forest Service and the State of West Virginia are managing the fire through a unified command.
