BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - A portion of Highway 280 will be closed overnight from November 14 through 17. Both sides of Highway 280 will have closures by the bridge on Pumphouse Road.

The Alabama Department of Transportation says this road closure is part of the Highway 280 widening project. Starting the night of Friday, Nov. 14, crews will begin placing beams over 280 for the new Pumphouse Road bridge.

According to the state, installation will happen overnight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. November 14-17. ALDOT says both east and west bound lanes of 280 will close at 11 p.m. on the 14th. The Eastbound lanes will not reopen again until 6 a.m. on Monday, November 17. However, the Westbound lanes will reopen at 5 each morning through the weekend.
