MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Fire crews in Minot were able to quickly extinguish a fire on one of the cars on an Amtrak train Thursday morning.
The city of Minot said crews were dispatched around 9:15 a.m. to the Amtrak station for a report of smoke coming from one of the cars.
The first crews to arrive located smoke coming from the outside battery compartment of the dining car, and were able to quickly put out the fire with a hand-held extinguisher, according to the city.
The department said crews with the train were able to replace the battery with a backup.
All passengers and crew had evacuated the train by the time firefighters arrived, and there were no reported injuries, according to the city.
