SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The area’s first freeze is expected early next week, so here are steps to take to protect people, plants, outdoor pipes and pets.

A strong cold front will move through the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry by the end of this weekend. The coldest air of the season thus far is expected for the first part of next week, including Veterans Day on Tuesday. Temperatures are forecasted to plunge to 32° in Savannah, with areas east of I-95 likely remaining above freezing, and inland communities dropping below the freezing mark.

While this does not appear to be a crippling hard freeze, there are still necessary steps to take to limit issues from the cold weather.

Check on neighbors who may not have adequate heating and make sure they’ll fare well during the coldest nights.
