TOLEDO, Ohio — Upgrades are soon coming to the Hancock Area Transit Service to make it easier for riders to hop on the bus.
Last month, Findlay City Council unanimously committed to a $125,000 contribution over the next five years toward a new microtransit system.
The Hancock Area Transit Service, or HATS, currently runs an on-demand ride service that needs to be scheduled two weeks in advance. But the plan for a new system wants to let people in the county schedule rides through an app. City leaders say their goal is to make public transit more accessible and flexible for the community.
“It is still going to be an on-demand system, but we're integrating an app which will allow for much easier scheduling and routing to make the system more efficient,” said Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn.
