KINGSTON, N.Y. — It is becoming more mathematically apparent that there is no road to victory for incumbent Legislator Thomas Corcoran.
At the end of the day Thursday, Corcoran, R-Marlborough, was trailing Democratic newcomer Laura Donovan 1,174-1,135, a 39-vote spread. On Election Day, Donovan held a 36-vote lead, outpolling Corcoran 1,167-1,131.
And with only 44 mail-in ballots and 15 affidavit ballots outstanding in District 11, it is unlikely that Corcoran will be able to overcome the deficit to win a fourth term in office.
Democratic Elections Commissioner Ashley Torres said of the 44 absentee ballots not yet returned, registered Republicans requested 17, Democrats requested 15, one ballot was requested by a registered Conservative, and one by a Working Families Party member. Eight
