PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- With Thanksgiving just weeks away, travel could look different than it has in years past.

About 10% of airline traffic at 40 major airports will be cut by the United States Department of Transportation, with the government shutdown entering its 37th day.

The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport is not in the top 40 airports, but Gene Olson, director of airports, said all of their connecting flights are at airports in the top 10 of this list. Other effects are unclear, however.

"We don't know what that impact is going to be at this time," Olson said. "It all depends on how the DOT and the airlines sit down and figure out how that cutting is going to happen."
