SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (News10)-- It was an emotional and highly anticipated day in Schenectady County Court as the St. Clare's trial commenced with opening statements. Yet the plaintiffs, assistant attorney general, and defense attorneys all agreed on one thing, the immense harm caused by the loss of those promised pension benefits.

Today, plaintiffs explained the emotions felt by those who did not receive their pensions. They said many expressed anger, frustration, and fear, as they confronted financial insecurity. Some even faced potential homelessness.

“All of these are emotions that these dedicated healthcare workers took care of, with patients at that hospital, day in and day out," said Attorney Victoria Williamson, "But, who was taking care of the pensioners?”
