COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Federal Aviation Administration has announced a 10% reduction in air traffic at 40 airports across the United States beginning Friday.

The move is in response to the government shutdown, which is now the longest on record.

As air traffic controllers continue to work without pay, FAA leaders have said a reduction in air traffic is necessary to keep up with staffing shortages.

John Glenn Columbus International Airport is not on the list of impacted airports, but travelers here could still feel the effects, according to Rob Elking, owner of Grandview Travel.
