COLUMBUS, Ohio — Marine through and through.
That’s how you could describe Tony Campbell.
“I’m a service guy,” he said.
He always knew he would serve his country. It was part of his goals in life.
“Get married, kids and be in the Marine Corps,” said Campbell. “I am a die hard.”
He recently visited the United States Marine Corps War Memorial, depicting the Battle of Iwo Jima, as part of Mission 145 with Honor Flight Columbus . Honor Flight honors America’s senior veterans with a trip to Washington D.C. to visit their service and war memorials.
“Never been here,” he said, walking up to his service memorial, which stands 78 feet tall. “It’s a dream come true.”
For Campbell, joining the Marines changed a family tradition.
