COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man accused of shaking his 6-month-old niece earlier this year was indicted on one count of murder last Friday, court records say.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court documents, 37-year-old Adulfo Hernandez was indicted in the Feb. 26 incident.

An affidavit says officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called around 7 p.m. to Nationwide Children’s Hospital on a report of physical abuse of a 6-month-old child.

Interviews with the child’s parents revealed Hernandez was the only person with the child from about 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at her home located in the 1000 block of Covington Road, where Hernandez also lived, according to the affidavit.

When her mother returned home, the child was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital.
