CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A KCRG-TV9 investigation shows how field sobriety tests can result in arrests of completely sober drivers, with more people coming forward to share similar experiences.

Since TV9’s initial reporting on law enforcement arresting sober people for OWI, additional drivers have contacted the station, sharing how they, too, were arrested for OWI when they had nothing to drink. All of these arrests connect back to field sobriety tests.

Law enforcement says the advent of legal marijuana and prescription drugs makes it harder to spot intoxicated drivers. They rely on field sobriety tests to determine impairment, but failing those tests is easier than many think.
