ATLANTA — Voters in several municipalities are seeking a change in their mayor. Some races had incumbents who lost due to controversy, and other races feature multiple-term incumbents heading to a runoff.
In South Fulton, Mayor Khalid Kamau lost re-election. There was a crowded field of candidates running against him. That race is now going to a runoff, but Kamau won't be on the ballot after receiving less than 5% of the vote.
Mayor Kamau was running for re-election despite being accused of misusing city funds and pleading not guilty to criminal trespassing.
South Fulton Rep. Debra Bazemore (D- District 69) said the results are not surprising.
