AMHERST, NY — Big changes could soon be coming to one of Amherst’s most well-known properties. The Town of Amherst is preparing to take the next steps toward redeveloping the aging Boulevard Mall, a project years in the making.
Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa says the town board could vote as soon as Monday to approve a plan allowing Benderson Development to take over as the main developer for the 64-acre property. The move would shift control from developer Douglas Jemal to Benderson, a company well-known for commercial and mixed-use projects across Western New York.
If approved, the town would acquire the Boulevard Mall through eminent domain, paving the way for demolition and large-scale redevelopment.
