VERMONT (ABC22/FOX44) - "It’s simple, it’s fast, and it’s saving lives."
November 8 is National Lung Cancer Screening Day. Hospitals in Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire are hosting screening events to try to catch cancer early while it can still be treated.
"If we catch lung cancer when it's small, we're looking at easier treatment, lower costs, and better outcomes," says Beth Zigmund, MD, director of UVM Cancer Center's lung screening program.
"Even if the cancer is a later stage, the sooner we know about it, the more we can help.”
The event is happening at ten participating sites, including nine in our region. All events are on November 8 unless listed. • Vermont Northwestern Medical Center, St. Albans, Vt. UVM Medical Center, Burlington, Vt. Vermont Diagnostic Imaging, Willist
