Results of the ranked-choice vote tallies for Santa Fe's mayoral race Tuesday show Michael Garcia's lead continued to grow through seven rounds of vote counting, but it was more than 2,000 second-place votes from Ron Trujillo's supporters that put him way over the top.
Garcia, a city councilor who represents District 2, had 62.77% of the votes in the seventh round, compared with 37.23% for second-place finisher Oscar Rodriguez.
The vote count data, posted Thursday on the New Mexico Secretary of State's Office website, revealed few surprises in three ranked-choice municipal races — the end results reflected the initial vote tallies for the two City Council seats and mayor.
