JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) -- People in Johnsonville are coming to the defense of a high school teacher charged with assaulting a student.
Johnsonville High School teacher Raymond Haselden is accused of putting his hands on a student while trying to grab a cellphone from their hand. He turned himself into the Florence County Detention Center on Wednesday on a third-degree assault and battery charge and has since been released.
Since his arrest, "I stand with Raymond" has popped up on social media in support of the teacher. Elizabeth Eaddy says she's known Haselden for decades.
"I just didn't believe it, the way things happened, the way it's been reported," she said.
