Tuscumbia Police are investigating after a man was injured in a hit-and-run Thursday evening.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Avalon Avenue in Tuscumbia.
According to Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan, the man injured in the hit-and-run is a fixture of the community named Stephen Michaels, 60, of Sheffield, who is known as "Peanut."
Logan says Michaels was walking in the eastbound lane of Avalon Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle. Michaels was taken to Helen Keller Hospital and later airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
