NEW YORK (PIX11) – The country’s biggest airlines—American, Delta, Southwest, and United have all begun canceling flights due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.
The Federal Aviation Administration is ordering a reduction in traffic at the country's busiest airports. Flights at John F. Kennedy Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, and Teterboro are all expected to be reduced or canceled.
Dozens of scheduled arrivals and departures at airports in New York and New Jersey have already been canceled, according to data from FlightAware. Over 800 flights have been canceled in the US, and more than 2,000 delays are expected to start on Friday morning.
