ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - On Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration started a gradual cut in flight service.
The FAA announced Wednesday that 40 airports across the country would be impacted, including major hubs like New York City, Chicago and Dallas.
Lambert St. Louis International Airport was not on the list of airports that would see cuts; however, on Friday morning, several flights were canceled or delayed. It’s not confirmed whether that was due to the FAA cuts or not.
The FAA says on Friday, 4% of flights will be cut through the weekend. By Tuesday, that will jump to a 6% cut, Thursday an 8% cut, and by Friday, a 10% cut will be in place, meaning thousands of flights could be canceled.
