COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A series of seven bridges in Collinsville, Illinois, has captured the imagination of generations of teenagers.

The “Seven Gates of Hell” is a series of railroad bridges that can be driven under along a path in Collinsville, and, as the legend goes, at the final gate, if you go through at midnight, you get dragged from your car and into hell.

Lisa Thiel is a resident of north St. Louis County, but she has driven through the Seven Gates of Hell herself when she was a teen.

“It is like a roller coaster ride as you’re going through these, like, bridges and everything, there’s tons of graffiti,” she said.

Several of the gates, all littered with graffiti, come with a story of their own.
