The Assumption College Lions left little doubt on their way to a third straight Athletic Association of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk senior girls basketball championship.
Hosting St. John’s College on Thursday, ACS jumped out to an 18-3 first-quarter lead and never looked back on its way to a 47-26 win over the Green Eagles.
“We’re very excited,” Assumption’s Kate Ferras said. “It’s feels so good to go back-to-back.”
The two previous matchups between the teams in the regular season were fairly close with Assumption (14-0) scoring wins of 44-36 and 60-50 over St. John’s (11-3). Knowing that their opponent wasn’t going to lie down, Ferras said getting up early was on their minds.
