KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - For the fourth time in five seasons, Bearden High School’s girls soccer program is the champion of Class 3A.
With a 1-0 win over Houston, Bearden avenged a loss in last year’s state title game in penalty kicks.
“It’s just amazing. I mean, after last year, I think we all texted and said ‘we want to go out with just having the best memories,’” said Tyler Roth, who missed all of last season. “I just wanted to come in and make the most out of my senior year.”
Multi-sport standout Emma Rainey said the team’s drive to bring another title back to East Tennessee powered the Bulldogs to another state championship.
“We wanted it so much,” Rainey said. “We worked really hard the entire season for it.”
